MANATEE OAKS: Aug. 14, 3:30 a.m. — 3500 block of 50th Avenue East. Grand theft. The victim reported that an unknown subject removed a dry box containing electronics and other items from his boat.

Aug. 17, 5:15 p.m. — 1200 block of Boulevard of the Arts. Theft. A hotel manager reported a $2,000 transformer was stolen. It had been used to power the elevator.

Aug. 17, 10:35 p.m. — Call for help, 700 block of Broadway. Animal Assistance. A restaurant employee reported that a baby sea turtle “was going everywhere at the back of the restaurant.” Mote Marine Laboratory was called to pick up the turtle.

2:02 p.m. — 300 block of North Shore Road. Trespassing. Police noticed a man climbing above the railing on a beach access boardwalk. When police asked him why he ignored the "No trespass" sign, the man became "very sarcastic" and said he was just going to the beach. The man was issued a notice to appear in court.
